Obituary of Katherine Howe Book

Katherine Howe Book, 82 years old and of Midland, Michigan passed away on December 1, 2021, in Mesa, AZ.

Katherine was born in Midland, MI to Gladys Diehl Howe and Dr. Irvin MacDonald Howe on December 15, 1938.

She went to Baldwin in Bryn Mawr, PA for her high school years. She attended the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and ultimately earned her college degree from Mercer County Community College in NJ; an accomplishment she was proud of as it involved her love of television production and screenwriting.

She married James Burgess Book IV in December of 1960 in Grosse Pointe, MI. They raised four children in Princeton, NJ and later divorced.

She was owner of Jacmel Galleries in New Hope, PA which featured Haitian art from her trips to Haiti. 

Katherine is survived by Barbara Book Dornbush, Kirk Dornbush; Michele Genevieve Book; James Burgess Book V, Lynn Book; Cynthia and Stuart Preston. She is also survived by her grandchildren Amelia Dornbush, Dylan James Book Ediger, Trent Burgess Book Ediger and Mira Preston.

Katherine is also survived by her siblings, Joyce Hernandez, Sheila Goldinger and Jeffrey Howe.

Katherine is preceded in death by her beloved grandson Ian Preston, and by Gladys Howe, Irvin Howe M.D. and Rodney Howe.

Graveside funeral services will be at Mesa Cemetery, Mesa, AZ on December 10, 2021.
