September Weeks

Obituary of September Sue Weeks

Words fail to express our feelings at the loss of our beloved wife, sister, stepmother, and friend, September Sue Hullinger Weeks, who left this earth far too soon on September 22, 2021, in Mesa, Arizona.

Born September 18, 1963, in Vernal, Utah, to Reid L. Hullinger and Loya Benson Hullinger, she spent her childhood years living in many countries — including Venezuela, Kuwait, and Iran — as well as Oklahoma City, Roosevelt, and Salt Lake City. She graduated from Highland High School (Salt Lake City, Utah) in 1981, and later earned both a Bachelor of Psychology from the University of Utah and a Master’s Degree in Psychology from The University of Phoenix.

She worked at a wide variety of jobs. TWA stewardess based out of New York and London. Hostess and waitress at Macayo’s Mexican (where she met her husband). Arthur Murray Dance instructor. University of Phoenix auditor, professor, and faculty liaison. Grand Canyon University Coordinator of Graduate Students.

For 58 years and four days, September touched many people's lives with her kindness, gentleness, and fun-loving nature. She was incredibly loving to everyone, people and animals alike. She cared for her neighbors no matter where she lived and took good care of her fur-babies. She had a wicked sense of humor and a huge loving heart.

She married the love of her life, Martin John Weeks, on January 1, 2013 (she chose that date so she could always remember it and he would never have to go to work on their anniversary). She did mention when she got engaged that she thought it funny that her first name was a month and her last name would soon be Weeks.

Preceded in death by her parents and her nephew Xavier “Tiger” Berryhill, September is survived by her beloved husband Martin; her stepson Scott Kellen Weeks; her father- and mother-in-law John William Weeks and Thelma Elaine Coats Weeks; her siblings and siblings-in-law Heather (Mark) Horrocks, Skye Hullinger, Jarom (Jessica) Hullinger, Sefra (Mike) Wilson, Judith Egnor, Janice Weeks Kurtzman, Patrick (Tawyna) Weeks; multiple nieces and nephews; many dear friends; and an entire pride of lions at Corbins Electric. We will always remember her smile, her teasing humor and wit, her love of elephants and pigs and animals of all sorts — but, most of all, her deep love.

She leaves behind an angel-sized hole in our hearts.

Make no mistake — cancer did not win! Yes, it has taken her body, but this wonderful, loving, strong woman took every blow, and never felt sorry for herself. Every reaction was of love and caring for everyone else around her. So, while cancer took its toll on her physically, her heart and spirit never dimmed. [Martin Weeks]

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, October 2, 2021, from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m., at Unity of Phoenix, 1500 East Greenway Parkway, Phoenix, AZ 85022.
