Obituary of Robert Louis Bila

Robert Louis Bila passed on July 2, 2021 at the age of 96. He departed quietly in his sleep at home, while
surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Ada Bell Bila, and leaves the legacy of
his children and their spouses: Mike (deceased 2020) and Glennis Bila, Bruce and Patricia Bila, Mark and
Robin Bila, Sandy and Bill Highsmith, Deborah Ogren, and Jim Wright and Sheila Shapiro, in addition to
twelve grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
He was born and raised in Chesaning, Michigan. He honorably served as a military policeman in the US
Army during World War II. When he returned from the service, he and his father owned and operated
the Big Rock Foundry. He then relocated, along with the foundry, to the Los Angeles area in California.
Later he owned gas stations around Santa Anna, California, then subsequently a Western Auto Franchise
in Placerville, California. Placerville is where he raised his three sons with his first wife of 32 years,
Virginia Bila (Deceased 1980).
After moving to Phoenix, Arizona, he was a dispatcher and driver for Lund Cadillac where he made many
long-term friends. On October 25, 1986, he met and later married Ada Bell Bila. They were together for
35 amazing years.
He was a man of great respect, love, and compassion. His beautiful blue eyes, coy smile, and incredible
sense of humor, left a warmth in all whom he met. His kindness and commitment established him as a
devoted husband, father in addition to a true and reliable friend. He was a kind and most noble soul.
He will be deeply missed!
Services with military honors were held on July 19, 2021 at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona.
