Obituary of Thomas L Ridenour

Thomas L Ridenour (Tom), of Phoenix, AZ, a generous and loving brother, entered into rest on July 16, 2021, at his home in Phoenix following a long battle with cancer, at the age of 59.

Tom was born in St. Paul, Nebraska to Carl and Mary Jean (Taylor) Ridenour on his mother’s birthday, June 19, 1962. He attended Thunderbird High School in Phoenix where he played clarinet in the marching band and was a member of the 1980 graduating class. Tom went on to earn a Digital Electronics Technician diploma from DeVry Institute of Technology in Phoenix. He worked as a Maintenance Mechanic at Collins Aerospace (formerly Goodrich/United Technologies) for 18 years.  He also earned several additional industry credentials during that time.  Tom was known for being gruff, opinionated, and had a sarcastic wit about him, but he was also caring and kind.  He enjoyed listening to rock music (he was even a drummer in a local rock band for a while!)  He attended many rock concerts and some of his favorite bands were Queensryche, Scorpions and the Dave Mathews band.  He also loved to travel and especially enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle throughout Arizona.

Tom is survived by his 5 brothers and 2 sisters:  Ken Ridenour of Elizabethtown, KY; Ron Ridenour of Eckley, CO; Larry Ridenour of Salinas, CA; David Ridenour of Wray, CO; Ted Ridenour and Barbara (Ridenour) Sopris of Phoenix, AZ; and Karen (Ridenour) Nixon of Peoria, AZ, and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and grandnieces & nephews. He is preceded into rest by his father, Carl, his mother Mary Jean and several aunts and uncles.  Tom will surely be missed by many.

A memorial service will be held at Santisi Brothers, 2710 W. Bell Road, Phoenix, AZ on Sunday, August 1st at 11:30 AM.

The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to his doctors at Arizona Oncology, especially Dr. Joseph Volk; Saguaro Cancer Center, Phoenix, AZ; Homestead Hospice & Palliative Care, Chandler, AZ, especially Lori Maxwell; and Red Mountain Funeral Home, Mesa, AZ for the care that they provided to Tom.

The family also wants to Thank the numerous friends and co-workers who reached out and connected with Tom near the end, we know it was great comfort to him and to us. God Bless you all!
