Obituary of Sandra Sorensen

Sandra Brown Sorensen, age 82 passed away peacefully at home in Mesa AZ on Thursday June 10, 2021.

Sandra was born in Wheeling, WV to Norval and Dorothy Kahle on March 3, 1939.  She graduated from high school in Miami Florida in 1956 and then attended West Virginia University.  It was there she met and married James W. Brown in 1958.  After relocating to the Atlanta area, Sandra and Jim raised 4 children while also running her own small business making slipcovers and working with designers throughout Atlanta.  Sandra was a true artist and enjoyed many creative endeavors such as painting, quilting and interior design throughout her life. 

Later in life, she married Jerold Sorensen, and they resided in Washington, Utah for 10 years. They had a summer home in Parowan, Utah and enjoyed travelling and seeing the country.  Sandra continued her artistic pursuits mainly through quilting where she won multiple blue ribbons in the County Fairs.

Sandra was preceded in death by James Brown (husband), Doug Kahle (brother), and Gerold Sorensen (husband).  She is survived by her children Jim Brown (Alyssa) of Dahlonega, GA, Julia Mills (Eddie) of Murphy, NC, Dan Brown of Dahlonega, GA, and Lainey Wightman (Paul) of Mesa, AZ and her granddaughters, Kahle and Charlotte Wightman of Mesa, AZ and Emily Goss (Justin) of Talking Rock, GA.

Sandra will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and loyal friend.
