Randolph “Randy” Herbert Watkins was a caring husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He passed away on June 6th 2021 at age 68, after a courageous and aggressive battle with cancer.
Just like he dealt with all experiences in life, (Randy) managed his illness with strength and grace, and wanted to spend as much time with his loved ones as possible. On his final days, he was at peace in his beautiful home and surrounded by the things he held close to his heart: his true love, Carol, his children, his grandchildren, and his faithful dogs.
Randy was born August 5th, 1952 in Mesa, Arizona. He married Carol in 1973 and raised two children. Randy had a rewarding career with McDonalds in both Arizona and California, and in 2020 retired as a director of Training. He touched many lives in this role and truly found joy in spending time with his work family. In his spare time, Randy had many passions from music, yardwork, photography, volunteering, reading books, and exploring nature with Carol. In 2020, Randy and Carol retired and moved from Cathedral City, California back to their home state of Arizona, fulfilling a lifetime wish.
Randy is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Carol, and his mother, Alicegean Sawyer. He was a dedicated parent to Jason and Angela and a proud grandparent of five well-loved grandchildren; Thyme, Ezra, Ciara, Mason, and Madelyn. Randy will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. He valued family, hard work, and understood the importance of appreciating the little things in life. He will remain an inspiration to us all.
The family held a private memorial and asks that any donations in Randy’s honor go towards the La Quinta Ronald McDonald house.
