Obituary of Michael Romero

 Michael "Nips" Romero born in Mexico D.F. Mexico on May 4th, 1920, passed away on March 9th, 2021.  He served in the U.S. Army during World World II, 1st Battalion 335th Infantry.  He was honorably discharged in 1942.        

  He loved jazz and played many instruments. He played the trumpet when with jazz bands.  Formally of South Chicago where he worked as a Longshoreman and owner of Romero Tax Service where they provided immigration services, notary services, took passport pictures and was also a Realtor.  In his South Chicago neighborhood, he was also owner of several businesses on Commercial Avenue along with his wife, Amelia.  In 1999 he and Amelia retired to Phoenix, Arizona where they developed new relationships. He and Amelia belonged to the Senior Center in Ahwatukee, where they enjoyed lunch and daily activities.

He is survived by his wife, Amelia S. Romero nee Morales to whom he was married for 62 years.  Their family: Sylvia Sheldon (James), Rose Romero, Leticia S. Zepeda (Rafael "Fello”), Christine A Herrera (Jaime) and Roman Romero (Stephanie). Grandfather to Jacqueline Castaneda (John Paul), Ruben Morua (Jacqui), Lisa Dawson (Rick), Jennifer Herrera, Jasmine Zepeda, Sebastian Romero, Vianney Romero,  Michael Cicirale (Jonathan), Christian Cicirale (Anna). Jerry Romero Jr. (Sandra), Steven Romero, Kenneth Romero (Leticia), Jamie Romero (Josie), Nuncy Garcia, Lizzette Edge(Carter), Audrey Garcia, Jacqueline Gutierrez(Rafael), Carlos Irigoyen(Claudia), Christopher Sallas.   Great-Grandfather to Juliet Castaneda, Jenevieve Castaneda, Jordana Castaneda, Jaxon Morua, Zoe Morua, Kingston Dawson, Maverick Dawson, and Emilio Cicirale. Great-grandfather to many more grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 

Michael was preceded in death by a son; Jerry Romero and his siblings; Robert Romero(Wanita) and Bertha Romero Madrigal(Guillermo).

He also shared his home with his Sister-in Law Mary Morales also known as "Nini". He meant a lot to her, and she will miss him dearly, as he was a large part of her life.  

Also survived by many, many nieces and nephews, cousins and dear friends.
