Rorie Nichols-Threadgill

Obituary of Rorie Renell Nichols-Threadgill

Rorie Renell Nichols-Threadgill of Phoenix, Arizona passed away in peace at the Blue Sage Living residence in Phoenix on February 18, 2021 at the age of 68.  Her former home was Montclair, New Jersey.  Rorie’s unique and stunning presence will be missed.  A memorial service with visitation will be held at the Red Mountain Funeral Home in Mesa, AZ on Friday, February 26th at 1:00 PM.

Rorie was born in Tuskegee, Alabama to Dr. Reuben R. Nichols and Louise Massingale Nichols on September 11, 1952.  She attended Montclair elementary and middle school and graduated from Montclair High School in 1970.  She attended Bennett College in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Her Joy and Passion was singing.  Anyone who heard her singing in a club, on the stage of The Apollo, at weddings and funerals can attest to the beauty and majesty of her voice.  She had a way to make it uniquely her own.  Her voice was her instrument and she played it well.

Rorie is survived by her husband George (Mustafa) Threadgill, her son, Trevaughn Harris, her older sister Rhonda Nichols-Wyche and her husband Marvin, her younger brother Ryan Nichols and his partner Alma, two grandchildren, Talia and Taylen Harris, nephews Daryl, Malik, Richard, Aaron, Joshua, Paul and their respective families.  She is predeceased by both of her parents as well as a brother Reuben Jr. who died in infancy

The family would like to sincerely thank the staff at the Blue Sage Living Residence for the care and comfort they provided her.  In lieu of flowers, please make contributions in the memory of Rorie Nichols-Threadgill to the Dementia Society of America by mail to P.O. Box 600, Doylestown, PA 18901 or online
