Obituary of Elaine Louise Snyder

ELAINE LOUISE JOHNSON SNYDER

Elaine Snyder, 94, of Apache Junction, Arizona passed away on December 6, 2020.  Elaine was born in Alpena, Michigan to the late Alfred and Edna Johnson, and grew up in Royal Oak, Michigan. 

She worked at GM Headquarters in Detroit until she married Lee Snyder in 1950 and shortly thereafter joined him in Ulm, Germany where he was stationed in the US Army.

In 1953, they returned to Royal Oak to raise their family.  After relocating to Gaylord, MI in 1978, Elaine and Lee settled in sunny Arizona in 1984 where they enjoyed traveling and she was involved in various volunteer work. 

Elaine is preceded in death by her beloved husband of nearly 60 years, Lee, brother, Arvid, sisters Alverna and Laureen, brother-in-law, Gerald Snyder, and granddaughter, Amy Michelle Snyder.  

She is survived by her beloved children:  daughter and loving caregiver, Linda Snyder, of Apache Junction AZ, son Wayne (Gayle) of Westerville OH and their sons, Daniel (Jenelle), Kevin (Jolie), and Jeffrey (Emily) Snyder, and son, Brent Snyder of Northville MI and his sons, Christopher and Andrew (Morgan) Snyder. 

She is also survived by seven precious great grandchildren, her dear brother Kenneth Johnson of Novi MI, and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend its thanks and gratitude to Suncrest Hospice and its staff for the loving care our mother received. 

She will be interred with her husband, Lee, at the National Memorial Cemetery in Phoenix, Arizona.  A memorial service will be held via Zoom at a date to be arranged. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Red Cross.
